Causes and solutions of gearbox heating
Troubleshooting the heating of the cycloidal reducer
1. The noise of the cycloidal reducer is inherently high. If the oil temperature remains unchanged despite the high noise, it is generally not a problem. Alternatively, check the noise level and call the reducer manufacturer to inquire if the noise level is normal.
2. Lubrication problems often lead to gearbox heating and loud noise. If there is too much lubricating oil, stirring the oil will lose power and generate a large amount of heat. If there is too little lubricating oil, friction will also generate a large amount of heat.
3. The reducer used for mixing and the cycloidal reducer should generally be installed vertically. In this case, small models of reducers are generally lubricated with grease. Please confirm that the amount of grease injected meets the manufacturer's requirements; Large models generally require forced lubrication to confirm if the lubrication pipeline is blocked.
4. Is the alignment between the reducer and the passive shaft beyond the required range? If the alignment is not good, it will cause the output shaft of the reducer to bear excessive radial force. In severe cases, it will cause a large amount of wear on the oil seal and eccentric bearing, which may also generate a large amount of heat. The eccentric bearing is a weak link in the cycloidal reducer, and its quality is very important.
5. Reassembly, accuracy is difficult to guarantee! The reducer itself has problems with low machining accuracy, resulting in poor meshing between the curved plate and the needle gear pin. The curved plate is the core component of the cycloidal reducer, and generally low-quality manufacturers use wire cutting for machining. There is no specialized machine tool for grinding teeth, or the use of modified machine tools, resulting in low accuracy, causing great noise and generating a large amount of heat.
The following are common causes and general solutions for the heating of worm gear reducers:
1. It may be that the conveyor belt is not fixed properly, resulting in an increase in worm friction, severe wear on the inner shaft, and severe solid heat generation. If it is not fixed properly due to the above reasons, apply lubricating oil to the friction parts, and replace the components severely.
2. Check whether the oil circuit is damaged, whether there are problems with the sealing components or if there is insufficient oil, or if the oil level indicator is damaged. If this is the case, replace the oil plug, inject oil to the specified parameters, and apply glue to the sealing components to make up for leaks.
3. Check if there are foreign objects invading the worm gear and worm, causing deformation or damage. Then open the casing and use a powerful vacuum cleaner to remove the debris. When the object is large, tools can also be used to directly remove it, and the damaged area can be lubricated with oil.
4. It is also possible that the worm gear and worm gear do not match, the shaft clearance is too large, and the lubricating oil is insufficient. The solution is to polish the gear surface to make it match, add an appropriate amount of lubricating oil according to the instructions, and start the machine to check if it is normal.
5. The running time is too long, which leads to the aging of circuit components. Replace the faulty circuit components, control the usage time appropriately, and stop the machine after continuous operation for a period of time.
Causes and solutions of heating faults in gear reducers
01: The oil level in the gearbox body is too high or too low. During the operation of the gear reducer, if there is too little lubricating oil, it increases the friction between the gears, and the temperature of the reducer increases due to excessive friction; Secondly, the selection of lubricating oil should be suitable and appropriate. For example, high-power reducers should choose better lubricating oil, while low-power reducers should use lubricating grease; Solution: If the oil level in the box is too high, refer to the corresponding user manual and make corresponding adjustments. Check the oil level at room temperature and add oil as needed.
02: The oil is too old. Solution: Contact the customer service department and check the last oil change time.
03: The gear reducer has mechanical failure or malfunctioning headlights. We need to check for any other abnormalities. After using conventional inspection methods to conduct certain inspections on the gear reducer, and no other abnormalities were found, we have to consider whether the gear reducer we selected matches our needs. Sometimes, our parameter selection is incorrect, such as selecting a load or power that is too small when selecting a gear reducer, which clearly affects our gear reducer beyond its power range. It is inevitable to experience fever when the load is too heavy. Solution: Recheck all parameters for errors. Replace high-power gear reducers if necessary.
04: The temperature of the bearing area increases. The occurrence of this fault is highly likely due to damage to the bearing of the gear reducer (provided that no other faults are ruled out). During the assembly process of the gear reducer in the workshop, if it is not properly assembled, foreign objects fall into it, or the quality of the bearing components is rough, purchasing low-quality bearing components for production can cause bearing damage. Solution: Check and replace bearings as needed.
05: The working environment temperature is too high. In some working environments such as hardware processing or heat treatment, there is usually no very low temperature location to place the gear reducer, or other objects around it block it, making it difficult to ventilate smoothly. When the gear reducer cannot dissipate heat properly, it will inevitably generate heat. When it reaches a certain degree and the quality of the gear reducer is average, it is also possible to experience burnout. Solution: Add a certain amount of ventilation equipment to the environment, or use the simplest method - configure a fan for others, so that the gear reducer can have good ventilation.
06: The oil is severely contaminated. Sometimes it is a quality issue with the oil itself, or it may be due to the introduction of other impurities during use or maintenance. Solution: Oil change is required. Gear reducers generate heat due to various reasons. Generally, temperatures below 70 degrees Celsius are considered normal, while temperatures exceeding 90 degrees Celsius are considered severe heat generation; The first step is to find the cause of the fever in order to solve the problem.
